Life Choices and Decisions in 1 in 8 Billion

This page explains one part of the game. It is an independent copy, not the official site. The life itself starts on this language’s homepage.

Two different choices

This year’s focus is the direction for that year: study, work, family, health, and the others the age allows. A decision is a window at a specific moment, with the options written for that year. They are not the same control.

The list changes with age

A baby has no focus. School, university, paid work, service, and later life each offer a different set. You cannot send a baby to work. The table is the game’s own lists, not a recommended route.

What each focus leans toward

The second column is the label on the button. It is a direction inside the model. It is not a promise that the arrow happens, and it is not advice about a real country.

Every yearly focus, with the direction printed on that button. An arrow is a tendency inside the simulation, not a result you are owed.

Pick a focus on the homepage

School and work windows

A school or job decision appears only when that life reaches it. Age, the country, school already attended, and whether there is work can change the options. This page is not a full branch map, and a missing option is not a hidden button.

Family, moving, and care

Windows about a partner, children, moving, or treatment also depend on the life so far. The same window is not guaranteed. This page does not rank those choices or tell you which one avoids harm.

Watching instead of choosing

Auto mode makes these choices for you. Turn it off when you want the window to wait. The auto mode page is the one that explains the switch.

The same choice, a different year

A focus or a decision changes the odds of what follows. The country baseline, age, health, and events you did not choose still act. Two lives that pick the same label do not have to end the same way.

If the window is in the way

Set aside ▾ lowers it so you can see the page, then open it again. Pause stops the years. Neither one rewinds a choice, and there is no control on this site that reloads an earlier year.

Questions about choices

The stats page explains the four bars. This page stays with the choices.

Can I undo a decision?

No. Set aside ▾ only hides the window until you choose.

Why is my focus list shorter?

The stage changed. A baby, a student, a worker, and an older character do not see the same set.

Will this choice save the character?

No choice guarantees survival, a job, or a relationship.
