How to read the life map
One square is one year
On the life screen, Life map is 1 square = 1 year. The squares are the years of this life from age 0. They are not a ranking.
Live until the map is on screen
Darker squares
A darker year is a year when Happiness was higher. The color uses that year recorded happiness, not health.
The mark inside a square
A year keeps one mark: school, work, a relationship, a child, a loss, a move, military service, a purchase, a trip, or a starred year. The year of death is the ending square. A square with no mark had none of those marks that year.
The outlined square
The outlined square is the life-expectancy age from the birth country and sex. It is not a mark that death happens that year. Dying before or after it does not make the table wrong.
The route after death
The ending screen can draw the countries lived. A solid line is the order of moves. A dashed line is a trip. Numbers follow the order lived, and the last country has a ring. This route is separate from the one-year squares of Life map.
When the route is absent
A life in one country, with no trip, does not get this route. Nothing is missing. There is no second country to join. The year squares stay on the life screen.
While the life is running
The year squares are on the life screen. At 800px and narrower, the record and the year focus come first, then Life map and Survival curve. The route appears after the life ends, and only with two or more countries or a trip.
Questions about the map
The two pictures are different.
Is a square a country?
No. During the life, a square is a year. The country route is a separate picture after the end.
Does darker mean success?
No. Darkness is that year happiness. It is not a ranking.
Does every life get a route?
No. One country and no trip leaves nothing to join.
